(WHITEHORSE, YUKON) The Yukon Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Mather as interim Chairperson of the Yukon Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, effective May 22.

Mark is a distinguished Yukon entrepreneur and the owner and operator of the Dawson General Store, a hub for community engagement and commerce in Dawson City. In guiding the Chamber towards its 2024 Annual General Meeting, Mark will lead efforts to strengthen the role of Yukon Chamber as a catalyst for economic prosperity and collaboration across Yukon's diverse business and industrial landscape.

Mark’s appointment follows the departure of outgoing Chairperson Kyla Barker who has accepted a new role within the Yukon Government. Under Article 40 (c) of the Chamber's Constitution, employees of a government entity are ineligible to serve on the Board of Directors.

The Yukon Chamber of Commerce, its members and affiliates thank Kyla for her contribution, proudly serving on the Board since 2019, including a tenure as 2nd Vice-Chair, Vice Chair and Chairperson from 2022 to present. Over that time the Chamber has taken important steps forward in promoting economic growth, supporting local businesses, and fostering a collaborative environment for commerce in the Yukon.

The Yukon Chamber of Commerce, its members and affiliates thank Kyla for her service and look forward to continuing our work with a commitment to excellence. The Board of Directors will convene in the coming days to support the transition period and continue the important work of building connections and advocating on behalf of Yukon’s business community.
